Personally, if I was to build/buy a repro it would be a Tula PE sniper. I would stay away from them, because for the cost you can have a smith build you a more authentic looking Mosin. Location for: Izhevsk - pre 1935/1936 period, Tula - 1940 and earlier. Now some folks threw together some repros, but not as nice as the AIM, they will have different scope markings, and a an aluminum stamped scope mount (no markings, no mill marks). Heck you can get an Izzy round Mosin for $70 online (c&r guys can), and usually in the crates there are a few "ex-snipers", take that ex sniper, throw a PU scope on it and you have a $500 rifle. Developed from 1882 to 1891, it was used by the armed forces of the Russian Empire, the Soviet Union and various other states. The repros came about because there was a market for them. Just that for an additional $200 you can get a real sniper. Even as a repro, the value will not go down. The AIM repros do have the matching serial and seem to be a very quality reproduction Īnd if he is selling them for the same price as online, that is a pretty nice deal. Should be on the left side, the additional serial should match the scope.
